We traveled the Seward Highway down the Alaskan Coast together on a photo date and stopped to explore the harsh iced over winter shores. Wind whipped across and through every exposed place in us as we hiked our way through the edges of ice pools up against the frozen and barely thawing mud flats. Winter left nothing untouched by her hands, she was everywhere. We providentially stumbled across this pathway and went no further, a photographer's dream unfolded itself in front of us. Remnants of wild abandon leaving a lingering memory of storm-tossed driftwood, a log creating a narrow escapeway bridge across to ocean waves. The walls of boulders on either side created an inspired framing. It was like a hidden gateway secretly calling us forth. I see it still, dreamlike. I often wonder what we actually walked through.
