One of the best gifts that I have been given is my father’s antique camera collection. There is hardly a memory that I don't have where my Dad was wearing a still camera or super 8 video camera (the silent type) around his neck. Capturing us, calling our name out to give him a smile. He had the original Brownie camera that was his families as a small boy and even one my Grandfather Alex, my Mother's father gave him as they were leaving for their honeymoon over 64 years ago. Both of which I am proud to say are a part of my collection. Needless to say, these videos and photographs he has taken and gifted to us are priceless for our family. We spent many moments breaking out the projector, screen and gathering our large family around to watch and listen to hear Mom and Dad regale us with stories. One day, I received a large box in the mail with not only these heirloom pieces, but he had also been to an auction and purchased for me a rather remarkable variety of vintage models. We have them proudly on display in our studio. A reminder to capture your moments, choose wisely what you take with you. A lens is a powerful thing to view your life and others through.
