Fall time, first day of school, mornings waiting for the new year to begin. A small boy, my son, grabbed hold of this beauty along the edge of the woods that lined our land. He presented her to me at the end of our driveway right before he hopped onto a big yellow school bus, racing off to a new adventure. I placed this on my window ledge in a tiny bottle and gazed at it. Reflecting on time spent, a thought ran across my mind to capture this heirloom beauty before she would fade. Anemones grow in the alpine tundra, the rocky slopes and cool woodlands of Alaska. We no longer live there, and my son no longer rides in a big yellow bus. I'm delighted to share a memory of pure joy in a sudden gift by a little boy who never grows old enough to pick you flowers.
